Adult Day Health Center
The CHRISTUS Schumpert Adult Day Health Center is a place for adults-especially older adults-to enjoy the company of others and receive individualized daytime care that promotes independence and can help maintain and improve health.
Located at 1700 Buckner Square, across the street from the St. Mary Place campus, the center provides:
- Help with daily health and living activities.
- Nursing care.
- A noon meal and snacks.
- A daily exercise class.
- Transportation.
- Educational classes.
- Support groups.
- Social services.
- A variety of recreational activities.
- Access to a podiatrist, dentist and beautician for on-site care.
The center is available for people who:
- Are 18 years and older and in need of social, health and/or supportive services to restore or maintain optimal functioning.
- Are able to walk or can move with minimum assistance in a wheelchair.
- Have bowel control. People with urinary incontinence are accepted if the incontinence is controllable with disposable undergarments.
- Can furnish a physician's health statement and a list of prescribed medications.
- Are aware enough of their surroundings to benefit from the program.
- Have a safe environment to return to in the evenings and on weekends.
- Attend the program at least two days per week.
The center is unable to serve people who are bedridden, have a contagious disease, require continuous one-on-one monitoring, are severe wanderers, or are a danger to themselves or others.
Fees and payment
The Adult Day Health Center charges a flat daily rate for regular services. Transportation and other special services are extra. Financial assistance may be available to help people who cannot pay the full rate.
