Computerized Tomography

Computerized tomography (CT) is a way of looking inside the body. The images it produces are cross-sectional.

During CT, an x-ray tube rotates around the body. A detector system records the amount of x-rays passing through the body and sends the information to a computer, where an image is reconstructed on a television screen. CT scans of the body and head can be used to diagnose a wide variety of medical conditions.
